Request for Proposals – MPTA
The Michigan Public Transit Association has a part-time position for an independent contractor to provide for a local training coordinator to plan and organize training events for the transit agencies in Michigan. This training coordinator creates and leads a local training steering committee to develop an annual training agenda and provide input to MDOT and MPTA on training needs and use of state and federal training funds, including the development of policy and overall guidance for MPTA administration of the Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP) scholarship. This contract will be available for a period from October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011. Training is extremely important to provide knowledge on topics such as financial reporting, federal and state regulations, and improved safety and security practices to the transit agencies. Minimum three years experience in public transportation and/or knowledge of public transportation in Michigan and the RTAP program preferred. Compensation for this position will be $20,000 for the period of the contract and this is non-negotiable. The successful bidder may provide the service from their own office or from office space provided by the MPTA in East Lansing.
Proposals must include: applicant’s relevant experience (if submission is from a management firm, the relevant experience of the lead person assigned to project); documented knowledge of the Michigan public transportation industry; and at least three references.
The successful proposal for this position shall be selected based on the following criteria: experience in the public transportation industry; clearly demonstrated knowledge of the role of training in delivering public transportation services; and strength of written proposals as judged by a review panel.
